Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Bugwater is that soggy place inhabited by creepy, crawly, hopping, flying, wriggling creatures we call, if imprecisely, bugs. Organized around the seasons, BugWater follows the bugs and the trout through their life cycles from spring through winter.

5 out of 5 stars Perfection   January 3, 2010

This book is monumental in its approach to fly fishing. Having an inside look at the creatures that we imitate and knowing their life cycle better will help immensely in my ability to know what to fish and how to fish. The pictures are amazing and very helpful in tying my own flies to imitate bugs that I have not had the opportunity to see and touch in real life. I highly recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars A delight!   February 6, 2010

Thomason, a career scientist, writes with knowledge and wit in an almost conversational style. He pursues topics in insect biology that go far beyond the usual dry Latin genus and species, emergence charts, etc. in fly-fishing entymology texts.

This is a book for a fly-fisher of "a certain age." The depth of treatment goes far beyond what a newcomer to the sport needs to know. On the other hand, for the fisherman who has done a few kick-net samples and knows something about the basic lifesytles of mayflies, caddis flies, and midges, Thomason has produced a beautifully photographed and wonderfully readable source of information.
