Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This old favorite has been fully revised, with many new diagrams and charts added. It tells how to construct monofilament and nylon nets, both from scratch and using machinemade netting. Modifications to the basic net plan include skirt net, panel net, and a Spanish cast net. It also has complete instructions for making a hammock... the perfect place to stretch out for a nap while your mullet cook in the smoker.

Customer Reviews:
5 out of 5 stars A very user friendly guide to cast net making.   July 10, 1998

This book is a pleasure to read and use. Although machine made nets are available, there is something very enjoyable and rewarding about making your own net and eating the fish you catch with it. The instructions and diagrams are straight forward, clear and easy enough for the novice to understand. Another section of the book give instruction on how to make a hammock from netting. Tying nets is a pleasant past time, it is not expensive and it very rewarding. It is a link to our sea faring past that deserves to be remembered and preserved.

I am extremely pleased with the content, instructions and knowledge/ experience of the author. This is an excellent reference guide for anyone who likes keeping their hands busy building functional and beautiful products. I have relatively decent knowledge of knots and cordage, but still was intimidated by the idea of making my own nets. This book really helped me overcome that feeling. The author gives such a clear understanding of the process and relaxing benefits of net crafting. As I started making nets, The extra information became an incredible aid! He adds charts of knot patterns and numbers of knots so you can reference the chart rather than counting hundreds and thousands of knots. Very helpful! He also includes various starting patterns and different knot sequences so you can essentially custom build your very first net with little or no knot experience. Very good choice to add to your reference library! I also found- [...], to be a very good supplier of net crafting tools. Good luck and enjoy a very rewarding hobby!
