Product Description
Angling legend Charles Meck covers tandems top to bottom with his favorite flies for matching hatches, as well as tried-and-true patterns for drumming up fish during summer doldrums and other tough conditions. In the first book devoted entirely to fishing more than one fly at once, Meck discusses 7 of the most effective rigs and the best times to use them, including detailed steps showing how to tie his new looped-leader series of flies. Artist Dave Hall provides clear illustrations of the different connections and fishing techniques. Whether casting to the banks from a drift boat on Montana s Missouri River or stalking central Pennsylvania spring-creek trout, anglers across the country will learn something from this book to help them catch more trout.

5 out of 5 stars Best fly rigs ever - no more twisted leaders   January 16, 2009

I have rarely used tandem flies either fly or spin casting since the buggers (literally) get tangled up. A lot. Usually there would need to be a very heavy weighted fly or sinker on the bottom and the second leader, usually is not adjustable and rarely long enough. But that's just me.

Meck's book shows the real skinny about the type of flies to use, how to attach them and techniques that work best. I'm not saying I don't catch fish with my own tandem flies it's just that his way is better. A lot better. This is a great book to show you how to sepnd more time catching fish than untangling fishing lines/leaders. I will also be using this ice fishing here in Colorado.

Good how-to reference about how to use tandem rigs for fly fishing. Good for an intermediate fly fisherman who is looking to expand on basic techniques and master fishing multiple flies at one time.

If you like to fish tandem flies or are moving in that direction you will find this book to be very informative. It explores every conceivable method and rig for tandem fly fishing and is well illustrated. I am using it in conjunction with Dave Hughes book Trout Rigs & Methods and find them to be an unbeatable combo.
