| Customer Reviews: Excellent Companion to the Aubrey/Maturin Enthusiast February 17, 2009 Daniel Bay Gibbons (Salt Lake City, USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This little handbook of nautical terms is precisely what the ship's surgeon ordered for smooth sailing through the marvelously jargon-ridden seascape of the works of Patrick O'Brian. In his twenty-one volume corpus of the Jack Aubrey/Stephen Maturin novels beginning with Master and Commander (Aubrey Maturin Series)and Post Captain (Aubrey Maturin Series), O'Brian was loathe to pause to translate eighteenth and nineteenth century shipboard speech for the landlubberly. Highly recommended!
